What We Believe @ North Central Christian Church

North Central Christian Church is one of over 3,700 churches in North
America that is a part of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Our
movement began as a reaction against the creeds and doctrines that
had created divisions among Christians. In an effort to promote unity
and tolerance, our church does not require belief in a formula, creed or
doctrine as a test of faith.
Texas Christian University (TCU) is a part of our denomination.

We believe:

In testimonies of faith rather than man-made tests of faith. We ask all
new members a simple question, "Do you believe that Jesus Christ is
the Son of the living God and do you accept Him as your Lord and
Savior?"

In faith, unity; in opinions, liberty; in all things, love. The unity that we
seek requires neither an uncritical acceptance of any point of view, nor
a rigid formulation of doctrine. The common thread that runs through
all is mutual understanding and love.

The Priesthood of All Believers. All Christians are called to minister to
others and to participate as equals in the worship of God. Recognition
is given to those called to serve the church as ministers, but their task
is to enable the ministry of all Christians rather than to do the work of
ministry for us.

In the two Sacraments Ordained by Jesus Christ:
Baptism – Following the example of Jesus in the River Jordan, we
baptize believers by immersion, however we recognize and accept the
baptism of Christians form other churches. Mark 1:9 "In those days
Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the
Jordan."

The Lord’s Supper – Weekly at the Communion Table, Following the
instructions of Jesus to the Twelve disciples in the upper room, we
remember the sacrifice of our Lord "Do this in remembrance of Me." I
Cor. 11:24

Our members are free to believe and act in accordance with their
perception of God’s will for their lives. We believe our members are
called to study the Scriptures and to seek the guidance of the Holy
Spirit in their search for truth.
Whatever your own church background, I believe you can find a fit with
our church, North Central Christian Church. I was a Methodist until I
married Gail. My Baptism was accepted and I had the freedom (and
responsibility!) of interpreting the Scriptures with much guidance from
the Holy Spirit. And the weekly communion, how did I ever do without
it!
North Central is a warm, caring congregation and is active in serving
our Lord. Come join us!

"The Christian faith requires community. I cannot follow Jesus alone
anymore than I can get married alone." - Timothy Paul Jones, What
Does Jesus Want? (Discipleship Journal, April 2007)
I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen:
not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything
else.
C. S. Lewis

Aim at heaven and you will get earth thrown in. Aim at earth
and you get neither.
C. S. Lewis

You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new
dream.
